Killaloe's Tobar Geal

Single Pot Still Whiskey from a sourced distillery

The Killaloe Whiskey Company was founded by four friends on the shores of Lough Derg in Killaloe. In 2019 they begain exploring and experimenting with wine finished whiskeys. In March 2024 they released their first products, the Tobar series (Irish for Well) - Tobar Geal (Dark), Tobar Geal (Bright) and Tobar Réaltach (Star Lit). Just at the time of our tasting, a second batch of Tobar Geal had been just bottled. The company are progressing to becoming fully fledged whiskey bonders in 2026 with their own bonded warehouse and new visitor centre.

Tobar Geal is a single pot still whiskey. 20% was fully ex-bourbon matured; 80% was ex-bourbon matured with a 12 month finish in a Crianza cask.

TG2401 (batch#1) was a run of just 350 indvidually numbered bottles. Bottled at 46% ABV with no added colouring and is non-chill filtered.
